To borrow a phrase from the late great Dick Latvala, we're slapping a "caveat emptor" label on this release. The recording, of Emergency Group’s first ever session as a quartet, may be considered "lo-fi" by some listeners. It was recorded in mono using a single room microphone, then mixed and mastered on cassette tape using a Tascam 424mkIII 4-track machine with the addition of some outboard compression and analog spring reverb.

Over the summer we plan to work with the renowned producer Chris Schlarb (Psychic Temple, Big Ego Studios) to cut an album. All proceeds from this download will go towards the cost of studio time. By buying this music you will be directly helping us make more music!

The session happened on February 11, 2020 when Dave Mandl joined us on bass for the first time. Before that night Robert, Andreas, and I had been playing together as a trio. "Crisis In Mono" is the document of our first night together as a full band. I spent much of 2020 obsessing over this tape during lockdown. Well... fortunately the clubs are back open and we’re lucky to be a live band again, with shows on the calendar and an album out on Island House Records. I still really enjoy listening to this tape and I hope you will too. - Jonathan Byerley
